Dance
It’s been an exciting first term for the Dance Department.
Dance auditions have taken place and the companies are in full
rehearsal. We welcomed back the Boys’ Dance Company and
pupils have been working hard in their lessons. Here is a flavour
of what has been happening in the dance department this term.
Dance Company Auditions
Congratulations to all those pupils who successfully auditioned
for Dance Company (please click here for the Dance Company
schedule). The auditions were run by the Year 11 Dance
Captain, Ella, supported by Shanon, Carla and the Year 9
Dance Company. Well done to everyone who auditioned. If you
were not successful this time, please do not give up! We really
appreciate your interest in the Dance Company and encourage
you to try out for us again next year or to explore other
performing arts clubs which the department offers, including:
Choir, Orchestra and Drama club, to name a few.
Costume Donation
As I am sure you can imagine, the cost of costumes
incurs a significant expense for the Dance department.
If you are able to make a donation of £20 towards
the costumes, it really would be greatly appreciated.
Costume donations can be made through the school
shop here.
Grandparents’ Mass
The Dance Company took part in the Grandparents’
Mass, dancing a reflection. We were delighted to see
so many Grandparents in attendance. The Dance
Company began the Mass with a liturgical dance from
members of our Year 11 Dance Company, beautifully
accompanied by Year 11 pupil and talented musician,
Josh. Well, done to all those involved.
Congratulations to Lucia in Year 9 who has successfully
auditioned to be singing in the opening number of the
Rockettes Christmas Spectacular on 14th - 18th December in
New York Radio City Hall. She’s starting rehearsals via zoom
from mid October and more rehearsals on the day of shows
at 48th Street Broadway Studios. This is the most fantastic
achievement and Lucia will be working with the world renowned
Rocketts.
Drama
Congratulations to our Year 11 GCSE class for completing their first GCSE
component. The performances were wonderful. We have many exciting
opportunities coming up for our keen drama enthusiasts this year. Theatre trips
are currently being arranged for both Year 10 and 11, as well as workshop
opportunities for KS3.

Extra Curricular
St Richard’s Theatre Company is running after school on Thursdays. This club
is for Years 8-11, and is an opportunity for students to develop their drama
skills, learn new techniques and get involved in school events such as Year 7
Induction Mass and Advent Services. There is a Year 7 only Drama Club that
runs during Tuesday lunchtimes. This club will give Year 7 pupils the opportunity
to develop their skills in an environment where they are comfortable and helps
us create a safe space for the pupils to make friends with similar interests.
Directors Club for Years 7 and 8 is run during Thursday lunchtimes; this is a
fabulous club for students interested in the technical side of theatre, such as
directing, producing, lighting design and costume design.
